Objective:
The STAC provides scientific and technical guidance to the Albemarle-Pamlico National Estuary Program on measures to restore and protect the natural resources of the Albemarle-Pamlico region. As an APNEP advisory committee, two representatives from the STAC serve on the Policy Board, and STAC representatives consult with members of the Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) and Management Advisory Committee (MAC).
Background:
The STAC, along with the CAC and MAC, are the three advisory bodies sanctioned in North Carolina Governor's Executive Order #121, August 2007 to support the APNEP Policy Board. Since its establishment in July 2004, STAC has worked to enhance scientific communication and outreach throughout the Albemarle-Pamlico region. STAC provides scientific and technical advice in various ways, including (1) technical reports and papers, (2) discussion groups, (3) assistance in organizing merit reviews of APNEP programs and projects, (4) technical conferences and workshops, and (5) service by STAC members on APNEP subcommittees and workgroups.
